Divisions at war with each other

A manufacturing company did not know how to resolve a growing rift between two divisions inside the organization. Sales and Marketing have separate supervisors but often shared employees. At every turn, Sales would blame stalled projects or missed timelines on Marketing and vice versa. Neither supervisor had the leadership and management skills to be effective.

EGP’s management consulting could help this organization get to the root causes of the conflict. Instead of becoming embroiled in their arguments, we work to eliminate the “silo effect” that hinders the organization’s performance.

Additionally, we bring targeted training to the supervisors, as well as staff, to introduce new skills that will promote healthier teams within the division as well as collaborations between the divisions.

In this case, we determined that the organizational structure itself was to blame for the problems within case studythe divisions. With a change in structure, we suggested that one supervisor manage both divisions and report to the General Manager. With both divisions under the same supervisor, the strife would lessen, and we could work with the two groups to help them begin working effectively together.
