The successful entrepreneur fell ill and needed to keep the business going

An entrepreneur developed a successful professional services business with a full-time load of customers to serve. She had two employees who helped service the customers and help the entrepreneur with operations. One of her employees left for another opportunity shortly before the entrepreneur received a diagnosis of cancer. This entrepreneur was a single mother of a special needs child.

Through EGP’s consulting and coaching, the entrepreneur was able to explore many of the choices she had to continue her ability to earn an income to support her family. Her customer base was filled with many long-term and loyal people who would follow her wherever she chose to go.

Options for her included bring in temps to help her through busy seasons, bring in an equity partner to ease the burden of running the business, or sell the business and work as an employee for another firm. She chose to sell the business to create an income stream to support her through her treatment and release her from the day-to-day responsibility of running a business.

Coaching services provided her step-by-step problem solving and accountability as she moved through case studythe selling of her business. Messages to her clients were developed so that the transition of the base to a new firm was handled with the least amount of fear and impact to the customer. In the end, every customer transitioned and has remained in her care to date.

You never know what the future has to hold for your health or that of a family member. As entrepreneurs, these situations can take a business under quickly. It doesn’t have to be that way. Consulting and coaching is a phone call away to help guide you through the process. EGP partners have healthcare backgrounds and understand the impact illness can have in business and family.
